TinyClimbs Play Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
TinyClimbs Play is an app of learning games for children aged 3 to 12. It is set up and owned by a parent; the child only plays. The short version: nothing that could identify your child leaves the device, the only account is the parent's, and the app has no ads, no trackers and no analytics.
Your child
The child's first name, age group, stars, best times, progress and settings are stored only on the device, in the app's own storage, and are deleted when the app is deleted. They are never sent to us or anyone else. We do not ask children for personal information and do not knowingly collect any. The app does not use the camera, microphone, contacts or location. The spoken “how to play” lines were recorded in advance and shipped with the app; it does not record audio. The only links out of the app sit on parent screens behind a parent gate.
The parent's account (optional)
You can use the whole app without an account: tap “Skip for now” on the sign-in screen. If you do sign in or create an account, we collect:
- Your email, used to send one-time sign-in codes. No password is stored. Sign-in tokens are kept in the app's private storage on the device (the keychain on iOS, app-private storage on Android).
- Your name, city and country when you create the account.
It is the same account as tinyclimbs.com and the TinyClimbs printables app, and is covered by the general TinyClimbs Privacy Policy as well.
The player on your account
When a parent signs in, the app creates a player on the parent's account so progress can follow the child to another device. A player is:
- a nickname our server invents, such as “Brave Otter 27”, and an emoji from a fixed list;
- the age group you chose, for example 5–7;
- your settings: which shelves to focus on, the treat text and its points target, whether the child may browse all games, and whether to appear on the leaderboard;
- each finished round: the game, its level, the stars earned and the time taken, and each game the child skipped.
The child's real name is not part of the player and is never sent. If you leave the Top Climbers leaderboard on, other families can see the nickname, emoji, age group and scores, nothing else. Turn it off in the Parents screen at any time.
How we use a language model
For signed-in players, a language model (Google's Gemini, run inside our own Google Cloud project) helps in two ways: it chooses the order of the next few games from a short list our own rules already picked, and it writes a weekly note to you about what went well and what to work on. The model only sees the player data listed above — nickname, age group, rounds and skips — never a name, a photo, a voice or anything typed by the child. Without an account, the app picks games on the device with the same rules and no model is involved.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't collect your child's name, photo, contacts, location or voice.
- We don't run advertising, tracking or analytics in the app.
- On Android, the app may ask once whether you would like to rate it. That prompt is Google Play's own in-app review dialog; we receive nothing from it.
Where data is stored
Account and player data live in our managed database on AWS, encrypted in transit and at rest. Everything about your child stays on the device.
Your choices
- Use the app without an account.
- In the Parents screen (behind the parent gate): leave the leaderboard, which deletes the player and all of its scores; or delete the account, which removes everything we hold about you.
- Or email us from your account address and we will delete it for you.
Deleting your account and data
To delete your TinyClimbs account and everything held under it (the parent's email, name, city and country, every player, and all of their rounds, skips and notes): open the app, go to Parents, answer the parent-gate question, and tap “Delete account”. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. To delete only a player and its scores while keeping the account, use “Leave the leaderboard” on the same screen. If you no longer have the app, email contactus@tinyclimbs.com from the address on the account and we will delete it within 30 days. Data stored on the device is removed when the app is uninstalled.
