Prefix & Suffix Worksheet Generator

A prefix is a bit added to the front of a base word (un-happy); a suffix is a bit added to the end (play-ing). Pick Easy for Grade 1–2 starters (un-, re-, -ing, -ed), Standard for Grade 2–3 (pre-, dis-, mis-, -ful, -less, -ly, -er), or Challenge for Grade 3–5 (sub-, inter-, trans-, -tion, -ness, -ment). Build the word, break it apart, or circle the affix inside the word — with an optional answer key.

Say the base word, then say the whole word with the prefix or suffix attached — hearing the meaning shift (happy → unhappy) is half the lesson. The answer key gives the full combined word plus its two parts.
